Welcome to the sublimatrix Appendix 22-A.
Now that our extensive treatise on the number 22 has been out for a while, I wanted to dive deeper into how 22 appears in a chart and how its meaning shifts depending on the numbers around it.
This exploration isn’t just about interpreting 22 in isolation, but about understanding how it interacts with the broader landscape of a chart — and, ultimately, how it influences different areas of our lives.
If you’re new to sublimatrix, make sure you’ve read the main article on 22 and checked to see if you have 22 anywhere in your chart. For these discussions, I’ll be focusing on 22 in the major axes — specifically, self-concept, relationships, and career/money.
I have three examples from our lovely subscribers that I’ll be walking through, breaking down how I read their charts and what insights arise.
Up first, sublimatrix subscriber C and the curious case of 22 in the intrinsic identity. But first, a caveat:
The Matrix of Destiny as an Experiment
I approach the Matrix of Destiny as an experiment. I don’t believe there’s a single "right" way to read a chart — or even necessarily a "wrong" way. Meaning-making systems, at their best, open doors rather than close them.
Ideally, the Matrix of Destiny gives you more ways to explore your identity, more dimensions to uncover, rather than flattening or limiting your understanding of yourself.
In these Appendices, I hope to invite you to think more fluidly and creatively about how you interpret a Matrix of Destiny chart. There’s a richness that comes when we consider how different placements might impact the flavors of the individual archetypes in our octograms. It’s more fun! And you know how that thrills me.
With that, let’s dive into the number 22 and how it might manifest in a few different charts. I’ll walk you through my process of interpreting these placements, and I invite you to share your thoughts in the comments — tell me what these numbers bring up for you, how they might shape your own interpretations, and where you might take a reading next.
C’s Chart: The Role of 22 in Self-Concept & Investment
Today we're diving into the curious case of C, who has managed to score a double-22 in their chart in two significant positions:
Intrinsic Identity (Self-Concept) – located at the 9 o’clock position on the chart
Investment & Growth (Where to Invest in Oneself) - located to the left of the 3 o’clock position on the chart
If this were a movie trailer, the voiceover would definitely say: "In a world where most people struggle to embrace one cosmic archetype, C must navigate the wild terrain of two identical forces of unbridled freedom."
When a number appears more than once in a chart, it’s worth considering how these placements connect — in this case, how C’s intrinsic identity (self-concept) might influence their path to growth and financial investment.
